There’s a Nick Carter-Avril Lavigne song out there and it’s not what you’d expect (or maybe it is)

Apparently, two singers seemingly unlikely to join forces have done so; and it’s strange. Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter and Avril Lavigne have collaborated on a new song, featured in Carter’s new solo album, All American.

Get Over Me sounds a bit too pop punk for Carter to handle, while it seems closer to Lavigne’s music. In any case, this pairing is a very bizarre one and I’m not sure how I feel about the lyrics, either. Maybe they should have worked on a ballad, instead? I don’t know, it might grow on me.

To be fair, Avril Lavigne did tour with the Backstreet Boys in 2014, so perhaps I should have seen this coming.

* Get Over Me is the second single (after I Will Wait) off Nick Carter’s All American album which was released on 25 November 2015.
