Katy Perry proves she’s quite the survivor in her latest music video for Rise, the soundtrack for the upcoming Rio Olympics. The clip embodies the struggle described in the lyrics, with Perry fighting to lift herself up through water and mud.
Tied to a pink parachute, we witness the singer encountering all kinds of setbacks, until she’s finally able to rise and fly. The inspirational track definitely deserved a powerful music video and it seems director Paul Gore was up for the task.
“I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world,” said Perry in a recent statement for the Today Show. “I can’t think of a better example coming up than the Olympic athletes, as they gather together in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we all can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be.”
