Stephen Colbert and Michelle Obama have the ‘blanket fort talk’

Remember when you were little and built a blanket fort, to which only special guests were invited? Well, this is exactly what Stephen Colbert did on The Late Show, and his guest was none other than the First Lady!

Michelle Obama casually lay on the comfy blankets next to Colbert and the two of them had a very productive conversation, just like all kids their age do. They talked about all things ‘important’, from fruits and vegetables to whom they’d take with them on a desert island.

There was, however, an actually important message to take from the segment, and that is the need to “improve access to education for the 62 million girls worldwide who are not in school”, as they both blurted out. Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative works towards this exact goal.

I have to say, though, my favourite part was Colbert’s introduction: “I wish there was a place I could go where everything I knew when I was a child was still true.” That’s the blanket fort and there’s no greater truth than that.
