Harry Styles proves he’s still got it in latest Carpool Karaoke

The last time Harry Styles was found singing in James Corden’s car was about a year and a half ago, when he was still one fourth of One Direction. Now, Styles has returned as a solo artist and, somehow, this feels right!

I can’t say this is the most entertaining Carpool Karaoke episode ever – after all, Corden has offered us some amazing ones ever since the segment started – but I can definitely say it’s one of the most interesting ones music-wise.

Styles recently released his debut solo album and this fun car ride is also an excellent way for him to promote his new songs; and he does so successfully. But if you thought he’d be one more Zayn-like r’n’b/ electro artist wanting to blend in, then guess again!

Styles is actually going for soulful – hell, I might even dare to say indie! – with his music. And it seems to be suiting him very well. Who knew he’d be the one from the 1D gang to show his emotional side?

So even though this Carpool Karaoke wasn’t as funny as some of the previous ones, it introduced us to Styles’ bold solo venture, and for that, it was more than worth it. Plus, it’s safe to say he can pull off any outfit!

In with the new, out with the old – my 2015 in music clips

dead inside

Having said hello to a new year a few hours ago, I realised that I haven’t properly said goodbye to the previous one. And that’s probably because I feel I owe nothing to that f***in’ bastard! Excuse my language, but it’s true; 2015 was not my friend, in so many ways.

But I figured, how are we supposed to embrace the new if we’re still troubled by the old? So I am now paying my respects to 2015, which, as awful as it may have been, at least gave us some pretty solid songs! Surprisingly, it was way better than 2014 music-wise.

And that’s all I’m carrying with me as I’m taking 2016 by the hand, hoping it will be a much more fitting companion; the music, that is. So here are some of my favourite 2015 tracks which made my days shine brighter and my nights seem calmer.

One Direction play ‘Never Have I Ever’ with Ellen

I love it when Ellen DeGeneres invites her guests to play ‘Never Have I Ever’ and it’s always interesting to discover the crazy things celebs do ‘behind the scenes’.

So One Direction sat on the couch of the show and came clean about minor sins, such as using someone else’s toothbrush, and funny mishaps, such as sending a naughty text to the wrong person. Of course, not everyone was as cooperative as we would have hoped!

Harry Styles clearly found the game a bit unsettling and responded to certain questions with either dishonesty or denial, at one point yelling “What is this game?”! To be fair, the initial questions seemed to focus on Harry’s love life – pointing to his relationship with Taylor Swift and Caroline Flack respectively – so I can’t really blame him.

All in all, this was worth the watch!

One Direction team up with Good Charlotte on new album

It’s been too long since we last heard of these boys. Obviously, I am not referring to One Direction; (this boyband is basically everywhere all the time!) Good Charlotte is supposedly writing music for a new record that will be ready some time during 2014.

The chances of this happening, however, seem slim to me with the Madden brothers also working on their own personal album, while buying houses in Australia… Frontman Joel Madden is one of The Voice’s (Australia) coaches and the brothers are both excited with the place. So excited, that they have somehow neglected their work as a band.

And just as I was wondering if they will ever release something, I find out that One Direction is working with Good Charlotte for 1D’s new record! Louis Tomlinson and the Madden brothers shared the news with their fans on Twitter.

GC is getting pop-ier by the minute and I’m afraid it won’t do them any good. But who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see…
